If you’re in search of a cocktail, I’m sure there are plenty of bars nearby.
However, if you’re in search of a unique experience with your cocktail, this is the list for you.
Across the globe, there are plenty of unusual and unreal establishments that are waiting to pour you a drink. And while I can’t ever possibly list them all out, here are a few that you absolutely need to visit.
One of the finest bars in the world, the Ice Bar is made completely out of — you guessed it — ice. In fact, everything in this establishment is sculpted out of ice, from the glass you drink from to the chair you sit on. It’s rebuilt each year, and open from January to March.
If you’re going to grab a drink in one of the most historical cities in the U.S., you might as well do it in a really unique bar. This place has a carousel inside, where you can sit and sip while you go for a ride.
You won’t have to worry about those pesky zombies when you stop at this bar for a drink. The bartenders dress like Shaun from Shaun of the Dead, and there’s a chainsaw inside a glass box to break “in case of zombie attack.”
This bar and restaurant is situated underground, inside a cavern that is more than 10,000 years old. Be prepared to be spellbound, as you experience a bar like none other.
The establishment was named after the Aluxes, supernatural entities in charge of taking care of the lands and crops. Be aware, the Aluxes are also known for being mischievous!
If anyone ever tries to tell you that unicorns aren’t real, take them to this bar. Among all the weird and quirky taxidermy animals, you’ll find the skeleton of a unicorn! Of course, the bar also boasts wonderful cocktails, and the menu changes daily.
It probably goes without saying, but this bar gets its name from what it’s constructed from: shipping containers. These recycled building materials give the spot a cool industrial vibe, but the bar is also decorated with bright colors everywhere. It’s impossible to be in a bad mood here.
Have you ever wanted to step inside an HR Giger work of art? Head to Switzerland and you can. This bar, which was created by the artist himself, is the ultimate in immersive art. It is a cavernous, skeletal structure — in other words, the bar is covered in arches of crisscrossing vertebrae.
U.S. expats like Gershwin and Hemingway favored Harry’s New York Bar in the City of Light. This legendary watering hole feels strangely authentic, because, well, it is. An entire Manhattan establishment was packed into crates, shipped across the Atlantic, and then reconstructed in 1911.
