If you’re eager for a sunny beach getaway, you’re not alone. Every year, millions of people visit beaches in the US to enjoy some sand and sunshine by the water! If you’re not sure which beach you should visit next, we’ve got you covered.

Today, we’re looking at the three best beaches in the continental US to help you decide on your next vacation destination. We’re excluding Hawaii from this list because we’re trying to highlight beaches that people in the continental US can drive to for their next trip!

Malibu

You don’t need to be from California to have heard of Malibu. The gorgeous beaches and plentiful activities around Malibu are legendary in US pop culture thanks to the region’s close proximity to Los Angeles. However, just being close to Hollywood isn’t all that makes Malibu such a great destination for your next vacation.

The only hard choice you need to make when you arrive in Malibu is deciding which beach to visit. Should you head to Surfrider Beach and catch some waves like surfers have been doing for decades? Or maybe you should hit Zuma Beach and watch some whales. No matter what you do, you’ll never be short of activities.

Destin

Destin is a gorgeous beach town located in the Florida Panhandle. The Shore at Crystal Beach Park offers some of the best ocean views and swimming opportunities of any beach in the US. You can also visit stunning white sand beaches and nature trails at Henderson Beach State Park and Grayton Beach State Park.

If you love fishing, then you’ll love Destin. The region is renowned for its plentiful and diverse aquatic wildlife, which you can sample in countless top-tier seafood restaurants located throughout the city. The best part is that Destin is warm and sunny year-round!

Outer Banks

North Carolina’s Outer Banks are some of the most gorgeous beaches you can find in the Southeast. The Outer Banks stretch for some 200 miles of coastline, so there are plenty of areas you can visit and enjoy all the sights and sounds of the ocean. For instance, you could check out Hatteras Island if you’re interested in fishing or taking a boat out on the open ocean.

If you’re more interested in sunbathing or dipping in the water, check out the storied Kitty Hawk beaches. You can’t go wrong with the local cuisine, either. Southern-style cooking is one of the most rewarding culinary pleasures you can find in the US!
